The new court, located alongside Hansfield Educate Together Secondary School (ETSS), represents more than just a sporting facility. It is a shared community space designed to support youth development, physical wellbeing, and inclusive access to sport in a modern, safe environment. Built to a high standard and designed for durability, the outdoor court allows for year-round use while offering a professional playing surface for training, matches, and school activities.

This project highlights the growing importance of well-designed recreational infrastructure in developing communities. Access to sport plays a vital role in promoting teamwork, confidence, and healthy lifestyles among young people, and this facility ensures that local students and club members have the resources they need to thrive.

The official opening of the court was marked by a celebratory event, where Jack Chambers TD formally opened the facility and took the opportunity to test the new court himself. The event also included an awards presentation recognising the achievements of students and community members, reinforcing the positive impact this space will have beyond sport alone.

This project uses a timber frame and off-site construction approach, which allows for much of the work to be completed in a controlled environment before being delivered and assembled on site. It’s quicker, more efficient, and helps to reduce disruption at live school locations, something we always prioritise.

So why modular construction? There are plenty of benefits, particularly when working in education. The speed of delivery means schools can be up and running sooner, without months of disruption. Off-site work also improves safety and reduces the number of workers needed on site. Plus, with tighter control over manufacturing, we can deliver consistent quality every time.

From a sustainability point of view, this method helps reduce waste, improve energy efficiency, and cut down on transport emissions. As a result, it’s not just a smart option for schools, it’s a better choice for the environment too.

At Hogan Construction, we’ve invested heavily in our own plant and machinery so we can take full control of every stage of the build. This allows us to manage everything from the initial groundwork through to final handover, without relying on multiple subcontractors. It’s a more efficient way to work, and it helps us keep quality and timelines on track.
